I believe that Odysseus fits the stereotype when it comes to following the man box. I say this because he does cry but he also doesn’t back down from a challenge. Odysseus is weeping on the island of Ogygia and showing his emotions. The book picks up when they “found him there on the the head land, sitting still, weeping, his eyes never dry.”(Book 5 line 167) This quote shows that he is not listening to the ingredients that are in the man box, which is to never cry and express his emotions. He does show that he is a superior man even after being beat up by the waves. He shows that he’s not afraid and he will stand up to challengers “ up he sprang, cloak and all, sized a discus, huge and heavy, more weight by far than those.”(Book 8 line 216-217)…
During Odysseus’ journey him and his men sailed to the land of cyclops’ and other creatures. while there they went on a cyplous terrorist, Since him and his men were tired and hungry they helped themselves to the cyclops property. Soon after the cyclops caught them and trapped them in his cave. The cyclop is much more powerful than Odysseus but Odysseus’ intelligence is strong so he used that to his advantage so him and his men could escape the cave. Eventually Odysseus figured out a plan to escape and him and all his men together got away. After all of this victory “Odysseus, raider of cities” shout out that it was him that took the cyclops eye and “ whose home’s on Ithaca”(Homer,965). By Odysseus giving out this information out for the credit…

After Odysseus had came back from a fight at Troy, Menelaus remembered and realized how Odysseus had suffered and struggled for Menelaus in book four. This movie is about adventure from the difference places; braveries, romance and pride of king Odysseus. I see that the movie was indeed in culture and interesting action to fights the problems that he gives from goddess. I can say that Odysseus is a very strong man because even though there are lots of straggled that came’s his life. He is still strong and able to face off it. Odysseus fights against the Trojan he guiding by Athena one of the goddesses. Odysseus didn’t care about anything she said because he said belonged at her home with his wife and he went through many battles to win on his journey to back home.…
Odysseus, in The Odyssey by Homer, and I both demonstrate determination in many different ways. The first example is when they stopped at the land of the Lotus Eaters. The men that ate the lotus wanted to stay on the land because they were addicted to the lotus, but Odysseus, the great leader, would never let that happen. He said, “I drove them, all three wailing, to the ships, tied them down under their rowing benches” and told the rest not to eat the Lotus or they would lose their wishes of wanting to return home (898). This shows Odysseus’s committed and driven state of mind in the way that he would not leave any man behind, and he knew he needed to help them up on the ship and return them home safely. In addition, Circe warned Odysseus…
Odysseus not mentioning his name is related to the series of events in that he has to find his identity before he can reveal it. Even once he reached the hall of Alkinoos he had to try to remain hidden because his journey was not yet over. In each episode there was some kind of challenge he had to face before he could reveal who he was. In the Cyclops episode he reveals his name when they are sailing away. In the Circa episode, he reveals his identity after he overcomes the witch’s spell. In order for him to reveal his identity, he must first discover it for himself. This shows that he is not worthy of being Odysseus, hero of Troy, unless he can first overcome the obstacles placed in his journey by the gods. For each challenge he…
Heroic is a person who saves or helps people. An example of someone heroic is Superman because he fights crime. Soldiers are heroic because they fight for America, Some Hero qualities are leadership, brave, and clever. Odysseus shows these qualities.…
In the epic myth The Odyssey, written by Homer, Odysseus takes a twenty year long and perilous journey back to his homeland Ithaka. He must face many physical and mental challenges that makes him worthy of being a hero. The physical qualities that possess an epic hero include immense gallantness and dexterity. This can be seen when “Odysseus had blinded god-like Polyphemus, the mighty cyclops who was Poseidon’s son” (Rosenberg 78). Cyclopes are gigantic and man-eating. To face such a powerful, terrifying monster one must be extremely valiant, a trait that as you can see Odysseus possesses. A task like this also reguires a lot of skill, one must be clever because strength alone will not suffice against a Cyclops. The mental traits that epic…

{Odysseus is a hero in The Odyssey because of his bravery throughout the story, The Odyssey. He may have made a few unintelligent decisions however one can’t blame someone for an unintelligent decision. Odysseus was only human and no one is perfect. }…
The gods have played their part altering the course of the hero’s voyage. Seemingly, in the epic harmony does not last long and challenges follow Odysseus like a plague. Calypso, the audience believes holds the last installment of the global journey, our hero has yet more battles ahead of him. In fact, the king of Ithaca wandered the Mediterranean and its coastal lands for 10 years before finally arriving home. As waves crash against the raft, “he was seen sailing the ocean”(284). The sea near the land of the Phaeacians is only one region Odysseus has been driven to. All these occurs as a number of loyal citizens and a hopeful family await his return, a period when others dependence on him shines through. As Odysseus is under the angry waters…

Odysseus conversation with Elpenor Akhilleus once again reminded us of one of the most important parts of an epic which is death. His conversations not only reminded Odysseys that death is evident, but it also gave the reader insight into how ancient Greeks saw death. Everything thing during that time involved tradition. From praying to the gods, to death it was all important to the Greeks.…
