Week 6 Assignment 2.2
What happens to a person in America without health insurance? For one it means no breast cancer screening, for another it could mean no high blood pressure medicine, and for yet another it could mean no check-up’s for their children. We would like to help people in need all across our hometown stay healthier and live longer by increasing access to medical services, medications and medical supplies. So many Americans are uninsured because of the high cost of insurance. Many people do not have access to coverage through their job. This leaves many without an affordable option. Over 47 million non-elderly American’s we’re uninsured in 2012. Studies indicate that the uninsured are less likely to receive preventive care and services for health conditions. The uninsured often gain unaffordable medical bills when they do seek care. This quickly leads to medical debt. Individuals below poverty are at higher risk of being uninsured and not having accessibility to have health care screenings and check-up’s. Our community cares and to insure that the people in these categories can have some type of medical attention, we are opening a free medical clinic for the …show more content…
We will start small one evening/half day a week at a community program. We will consider how to get labs, medications, and test. We will be planning to request grants and fundraisers. We are going to involve medical students, also we will ensure that all health professionals and volunteers have a legal status because this health clinic program will be voluntarily based. We will also provide the upmost care for the children in our community. Finally, we will always maintain very high professional
