Teachers were instructed to read their e-mail immediately and follow the instructions laid out in the e-mail. All teachers had to take roll and report any missing children to the front office staff. Mrs. Daisy and her team stayed in the library and check their e-mail in the library. Administrator Bob, Principal Hope, and Resource Officer Life, came to the classroom to search Bruce and taken him into custody if the weapon was indeed on him. Two additional administrators stayed in front of the classroom to ensure no one came down the hall. Office Life took Bruce into custody and he was charged with weapons on school grounds. Once Bruce was taken off school grounds school ran as normally as possible. After school and the students were gone, the staff has an emergency faculty…
You are working as a Teaching Assistant in a high school supporting two particular learners in English and Maths lessons. Friday morning you arrive at the appropriate classroom a few minutes before the lesson starts. You immediately hear shouting coming from the room and observe that there are several students in the room and the teacher has not yet arrived. You also notice a ripped magazine thrown on the floor that may have something to do with the situation!…
The response actions to situations is determined by the ACHO or designee that require relocation and/or re-establishment of essential functions of the health department. The COOP may be activated as a result of conditions that arise either with or without warning. The ability to immediately execute the COOP following an event with little or no warning will depend on the severity of the emergency and the number of personnel that are directly impacted and shall be activated as soon as reasonably possible.…
Tom’s behavior often disrupts class. Yesterday he threw a dictionary across the room, knocked over his desk, kicked it, and began yelling obscenities at the teacher and the other students in the class (LD resource room). The teacher had to call for help from his ED resource room teacher to calm him down and safely remove him from the classroom.…
Tragedy struck a small west Texas town Saturday when beloved Lubbock Christian School (LCU) superintendent, Peter Dahlstrom, accidentally shot and killed his nine year old granddaughter, Soren, while rabbit hunting on the family farm. The entire community has been shocked by this tragedy and the effects of the incident will be felt in the community for some time. Many people in the community will benefit from crisis intervention techniques during this time. I have applied Robinson’s Crisis Response Model for successful crisis intervention to develop a plan of action to help teachers, students, and faculty through this difficult time. The model suggests the following six steps: 1) Define the problem; 2) Ensure safety, including assessing potential for self-harm; 3) Provide support; 4) Examine alternatives; 5) Make a plan; and 6) Obtain a commitment, including a no-harm agreement where applicable.…

There were prominent warning signs even according to the shooter’s poetry professor Nikki Giovanni that caused her and her students fear to be around Cho (Roberts). When the first shooting occured campus authoritys gave no more thought into it other than it being a small domestic incident, leaving them to believe the gunman had left campus. A student Brant Martel felt that, “they were a little slow on their response.” (Questions…). Even a day after the shooting people like Kenneth Trump of National School and Safety Services acknowledge that there needed to be a plan implimented to deal with crisis situations like this one (Questions…). Students were disappointed of the lack of attention to the first shooting and the emails that were sent 2 hours later during the rest of the shootings (NBC). Since the shootings that happened in 2007, about two thirds of four year colleges with 2500 students have been supplied with dedicated police officers and security guards according to the Departmant of Justice (Rich). The Virginia Tech campus shootings changed the landscape of security on school campuses by forcing campuses to implement active shooter drills. text alerts for students,…
Chino Hills High School is a great school with a variety of programs offered on campus. All of which are great and beneficial to the Husky students, community, and staff. One of the great programs offered is the Safe School Ambassadors program. Safe School Ambassadors is “ an ‘“ inside out” ’ approach to improving school climate… (which) relies on social norms change and the power of students to help stop bullying and violence (SSA).” One of the goals of the Husky Safe School Ambassadors is to make the Chino Hills High School campus even safer than it already is for every Husky student. Having Husky students promote and get involved in this program is amazing for CHHS. Every year Chino Hills High has a meeting for returning Husky Safe School…
The flames from the bus and truck are extinguished by members of the fire department who arrived at the scene. Parents of some of the drill team members were following the bus to the football game. While the emergency personnel are trying to care for students, the parents are asking questions and attempting to get to the bus. Some parents call the local hospitals in an attempt to learn where their children will be transferred.…
