I made countless mistakes at first and my apprehensions made me turn to the people that were employed by us for guidance. But every new day somehow pushed me to meet the new challenges head on. While I may not have had a basic understanding of the system of this country, I made it a point to give myself a crash course in labour laws as well as the health and safety codes we were meant to abide by. This called for a rudimentary comprehension of the workings of the freezer, the concept of mandatory breaks of the employees and the accurate temperatures of the fridge. I did not want to make excuses for my lack of understanding which could this is ok jeopardize the future of a the store (future of the outlet uncertain)that generated a revenue of almost a million annually. In retrospect I had to unlearn a lot of what I knew and learn again. Summers were always a busy period, however revenues would fall below expectations during the winters, making it difficult to pay bills and salaries at times.
