The Importance Of Friendship In John Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men

As we get older we crave this necessity for a true friend or a sort of affection, because we are humans and that’s what we do. Once we start feeling an emotion of loneliness and emptiness, we seek for a friend either a good or bad one. I think we can all relate that having a friend that can be good and bad to you at moments, but we still hang out with them because as humans the thought of a friend brings us joy. In a book, “Of Mice And Men” the two main characters, George and Lennie, had this unique friendship where George was mean at times but then he was nice. Then Lennie remembers in his hallucinations that George always gave him priority, he would always give him more than ½ of the food, and not so much for himself (Pg.101). It didn’t matter if he ate, but Lennie had to eat since he was a bigger dude and he had mental issues. Then they were looking for jobs George found an opening, but before they entered the farm he warns and gives Lennie advice on what to do if he gets into a mess or some trouble (Pg. 30).
