The Importance Of Human Trafficking In Kansas

Over the past few weeks it has been brought to my attention how prevalent human trafficking is in our state. But unfortunately many times we are choosing to turn a “blind eye” about this horrific crime. As we pull into the 2017 more than 200 hundred cases have been reported and a whopping 919 calls have been made to crisis centers. Unfortunately this epidemic has gone overlooked for many years, and wasn’t even officially acknowledged in Kansas City, KS until 2005. Statistically speaking it has been estimated that 14,500 to 17,500 million women, men, and children are trafficked yearly in the US alone, so if we break that down even farther that would mean that roughly 350 people Kansas have been or will be trafficked in this year alone.
