There are so many people who are dying every single day because of where they live and if we, as the United States, can do something about this tragedy, then we need to act on it sooner rather than later. I understand that the United States often talks about how they have their own problems and how we need to worry about what is inside the country before we worry about what is outside of the country but that is crap. I am sorry if that is not formal enough for this essay, but it is crap! If people actually think that the United States needs to worry about the little poverty in our country compared to people who are dying every single day because they have no clean water, or are unsafe in their country because they could get shot any second, we are foolish and simply selfish. Learning more about refugees has shown me that we need to look at these people with open arms and do our best to let them have the best we possibly can in order to make them have a great transition to the United States.
The last in class experience I had that truly changed my feeling about immigration is when we did the activity where you said you agreed or disagreed about the statement, and then talked about it. I thought that this activity really opened my eyes about all of the statements people can make about immigrants when they truly do not know everything about their situation, including myself.
