According to the idea ‘’we do not need labor unions for high-skilled labor forces. They can negotiate their wage rates effectively and reach acceptable settlements on all issues concerning their work environment without collective bargaining.’’. I do not agree with this idea because unions are very important for workers, companies and economies. Why I think like that; because there are a lot of researches and these are shows that workers are happier and more powerful when there is a union which gate their powers to deal with employer and sometimes with government. Also, when they need for example for legal advice there is place to go.
In this study I will explain firstly unions function and benefits. After that I will give information about researches which support my idea and also I will explain researches do not agree with my idea and lastly I will finish my study with a conclusion.
1-LABOR UNIONS AND FUNCTION OF UNION:
According to the Wikipedia labor union defines like that ‘’labor union is an organization of workers who have come together to achieve common goals such as protecting the integrity of its trade, achieving higher pay and benefits such as health care and retirement, increasing the number of employees an employer assigns to complete the work, safety standards, and better working conditions. The trade union, through its leadership, bargains with the employer on behalf of union members (rank and file members) and negotiates labor contracts (collective bargaining) with employers. The most common purpose of these associations or unions is "maintaining or improving the conditions of their employment". This may include the negotiation of wages, work rules, complaint procedures, rules governing hiring, firing and promotion of workers, benefits, workplace safety and policies.’’
When we look at this definition, we can understand that labor union have critical role about workers future. Union bargain with employer and
