1). Sullivan discusses the topic of preparing for college and aims his discussion towards high school freshman and college students. The students he has found prepared enough for college had no difficulty reading materials of multiple ranges and subjects since they “loved to read” (pp. 1). Furthermore, students that are prepared know that exemplary writing takes exemplary effort, and they come willing to comprehend, study, converse, and evaluate their written works. Additionally, listening and thinking influences the different ideas that we can develop; this can affect our self-development and mental capabilities, which can increase opportunities for further engagement.…
It is said that fate does not choose it’s own victims, but it’s victims choose their own fate. In the tragedy Hamlet by Shakespeare, it is evident that the tragic hero, Macbeth, chooses his own fate and creates his own downfall. With greed, hubris and mistrust, Macbeth chooses and shapes his own destiny. Macbeth’s greed for power leads to the mistrust of those around him and in the end forms his fatal downfall. If the evil inside Macbeth was not to have overtaken the good, his ending may have concluded otherwise.…
Writing is the way to interpret your thoughts or even your own self, wither you writing in college or personally and professionally. Focusing in self- evaluation to improve the learning process, help me to set goals and be aware of my own mistakes. When the English Composition course started, I wanted to be able to express my thoughts and my ideas in an effective way. The process of writing for non-native speakers of English is kind of difficult. For me, the American style of writing is very narrow, and my style is completely different. I found myself having trouble sticking to a thesis, because I had so many ideas that I did not know how to organize, and that was the primary purpose of taking this course, to learn to make my writings more organized.…
Investigate the two issues you chose in the above question. Use this chart to take notes as you research. Use the library, Internet, family and friends, and trusted community members. Talk to at least three trusted adults about the issues you research. These people may suggest good ideas and websites for information. One example would be your city or county government website. Be sure to note where you find information in your chart.…

This course truly helped my comprehension of specific parts of writing that I had never caught on to before. I feel that I can now express my thoughts much more successfully. In the future, my essay papers will be far more grounded because of the new composition methodologies or strategies learned here. I am more confident about writing effectively in future college classes after taking this class. I’ve learned to use different words, phrases, or statements to use other times that will best suit my style of writing. This semester has been one that was, unquestionably, a learning and educational experience for…
Coming into the project I was looking forward to interviewing a veteran, at first I really wanted to interview a World War Two veteran. I thought it would be very cool to sit down and hear an untold story of a true American hero that fought in one of the most memorable, and one of my favorite wars. But as I continued to search for a World War Two veteran I couldn’t find one so I joined groups with Tyler, Jose, and Mauricio. They had then told me that we would be interviewing Tyler’s stepdad, who was currently enlisted. Of course my dream of interviewing a word war two veteran was tossed out of the window. Then I had thought about it and to hear the story of a national hero that is serving in the War on Terror currently would be pretty cool. Although I didn’t get my World War Two veteran, I was still pretty stoked about hearing our veteran’s story.…

Throughout my life at SSJ, I have matured, grown in my faith, and in my education, but most of all my skills as a writer have improved as well. From the first moment I came to SSJ, I began writing. Though what I wrote were only simple sentences, it helped to create a foundation that I base all of my writings on every day. Today it enables me to write from the longest essay to just a short paragraph.Out of all the many things I have learned at school, I feel that writing is the most valuable skill I have learned. Writing, lets you express your feelings and emotions and helps you describe the world in your perception or in your imagination. It is like a work of art, your words trigger the thoughts, sounds, feelings, and emotions a reader will…
Composition 2 has revolutionized my understanding of what it takes to make writing a powerful tool. The most amazing aspect of this course was for me to see the ways I grew in how I wrote, and what I wrote for, especially with the affirmative action paper. In practicality, I learned how to choose more supporting evidence from a vast collection of articles. Intellectually, I acquired the ability to understand what mattered to me, why it did, and how writing can bring forth a second opinion to many who may have opposed…
