Some of us have unfortunately conditioned ourselves to believe that a fun time is not spent sober. So often when people engage in fun adult activities they feel that they need to indulge in some sort of alcohol or drug. Over the course of time this becomes a habit and before you know it you feel strange when you are sober and it may seem as if you are missing out. This is not true, however. The best thing is that no one will be doing drugs or drinking so you won't feel like your missing out. Life's most exciting and memorable moments can happen without any substances. - Have A Support Team
In your quest to maintain sobriety you may want to gather the support of a few close friends. These are the people that you can bring with you to events where you know there might temptation. It is easier to be around people that are not sober if you have friends with you that are. Having a team to lean on if you need it will increase your confidence and make learning to have a good time while being sober a bit easier.

As with anything the more you do it, the easier it will become. Taking progress one step at a time and easing yourself into being accustomed to being sober is the best way to readjust. Goal setting will give you a sense of accomplishment as well as give you a way to gauge your progress. Before you know it you won't even think about being sober. You will be having fun and enjoying life without having to concentrate on avoiding temptation. It is a process and will take time. Once step at a time is the best way to approach your recovery. You may think about what you could be missing out on, but rest assured the only thing you would be missing out on is living your life to the fullest.
Being sober is not boring at all, in fact, it gives you the ability to really have fun without worrying about the all of the problems that come with intoxication. Just remember that there is a reason that you quit whatever addiction was plaguing you, to begin with. Think of sobriety as a way to open up more possibilities to you.
