The Influence Of DUI Laws
Introduction
Driving under the influence of alcohol and other harmful drugs is a forbidden thing in the United States. The existing laws against driving under the influence of drugs are effective in ensuring that those who drink and drive are adequately punished (Hiemstra, 2012). Moreover, the law does not permit those less than 21 years to drive after drinking small amounts of alcohol. The DUI laws should not be changed as doing so may reduce the law’s effectiveness and relevance in punishing those who drive under the influence of alcohol.
Audience
The judicial officials, non-governmental personnel and the public should all realize the relevance of the existing law in ensuring that people do not drink and drive. Therefore, the judicial officials and non-governmental officials should not consider or accept any changes to the present law (Sylvester, 2016). Moreover, the public should understand the need to have people drive when not under the influence of drugs. Drivers who do get pulled over for drunk driving will be arrested and need to hire an attorney. Lawyers represent men and women in the courtroom, and negotiate lighter sentences with judge and district attorney’s office, there are even times when the case gets dismissed altogether even those the individual were clearly impaired behind the wheel breaking the law. My argument for my paper is whether or not there should be stricter DUI laws in the state of Wisconsin.…

The problems that lead to the creation of MADD were the many alcohol related accidents that have occurred with minimum punishment. In 1980, 27,000 alcohol-related traffic fatalities occurred in the United States each year, including 2,500 in California alone. The blood alcohol level in the United States was .15 in 1938 but then .10 in the 80’s before MADD and other advocate groups pressured it to be lowered to now .08 in the year 2005. Another issue was that many underage people were drinking alcohol. The drinking age depending on the state was 18 years old but has not been raised to 21 in the…

There are many different views towards the topic of whether or not ones driver’s license should be permanently revoked for their first alcohol-related offense. My personal viewpoint towards this controversial and ongoing debate in our society is that a person should have more than one chance with regards to these offences. People under the age of twenty one who are involved in alcohol-related offences are not properly educated to the effects this substance has on the mind and body. Also, first time offenders, no matter their age, are not aware of the consequences their actions carry. Finally, if the offender has the disease of alcoholism there are programs to help them recover.…
