The first act that parliament enforced was known as the Sugar Act. The Sugar Act cut the taxes of molasses and multiple other products. This tax on molasses affected the New England colonies because they would distill the molasses to make rum. This distilling process was bringing in good amounts of money to the colonies. The Sugar Act was supposed to cut down the temptation for smuggled good and this was supposed to help pay for the soldiers staying in America to protect the colonist.
The next act was known as the Currency Act. The Currency
Act enforced that the colonist could not print money, all of the money had to be British money or coins. All the goods that had to be imported to America had to be paid for in British currency or commodities like tobacco. This wasn't much of a problem except for the fact that the colonies were running out of currency due to all of it going over to pay debt.
The third act was known as the Quartering Act. This act stated that the colonist had to house and feed the British soldiers. The colonist did not understand why they had to house the soldiers who were supposed to be protecting them from the Indians. All the colonist were away from the Indians now so why were the soldiers staying with them instead of protecting them and defending their land? Some of the colonist came to the conclusion that this act was being used so the British soldiers could bully the colonist into what Parliament wanted.
In conclusion, the Parliament in Britain passed many stupid acts to try to strengthen their control on the American colonies. The end result though is much different than they planned for, ending with the revolution and independence of the colonies.
