If you don’t have your laptop and you need to get research on whatever project you are working on, what do you use? Books have made such an impact on our lives and even the lives of many historical figures. Before books were around, how would
you learn about new things, and educate yourself. The answer to that is you wouldn’t. You knew what the church choose to inform you about. Before books we couldn’t educate ourselves. But in Mainz, Germany in the year of 1395 the man who would change the world was born.
Johannes Gensfleisch zur Laden zum Gutenburg was born in 1395 in Mainz, Germany. Where he was born into a modest merchant family. His father Freile Zum Gensfleisch, and his mother, Else Wirick Zum Gutenberg. Johannes Gutenberg also had two brothers growing up, him being the youngest. Before the printing press, Johannes worked as a goldsmith in Mainz. When a Craft Smith's revolt happened against the noble class in 1428, Johannes and his family were moved to now known as Strasbourg, France. In Strassburg, Johannes printing experiments began. Johannes was already familiar with book making. He then created a small metal type and later on printed the first copy of the Bible nobles could read.
