The Integral Stage presents a look into how my mind works, but attempts to tell a story all the same.
I attempted to recreate how I feel, without making the painting about myself through the usage of everything that has affected me in life, . Each of the scenes is a snippet of how I envision my thoughts. The title”The ∫ntegral Stage” can be taken in many ways, but each is a descriptor in what I have done in this painting. The word Integral is defined as “ important” or “vital, while in mathematics it is the measurement of the area under a graph . The stage is a concept for me as I am a storyteller, and everyone I meet becomes a future character; not as themselves per se but what I like or dislike about them. Everyone stays center stage in my head, yet only for small periods of time, and then archiving . Together the words create “ Integral Stage” which after further research I discovered is a part of “the Three Stages “ in Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory. This theory is considered a “theory of everything” where Wilber attempts to put all theories into one, which is similar to what I am trying to do in this painting The three stages represent , connections with self, with the people around you, and the world. The panels in my piece represent the three integral stages, the first one being connections with self and so forth.
