Both gyptians and scholars both have a negative opinion at Lyra, but for very different but unique reasons. At Jordan, the scholars have something against her because of Lyra throwing dirt or snow at them and for fooling around. The gyptians are also mad at her because Lyra usually/always hijacks their boats. As a result, the gyptians get very mad at lyra because of her burglarizing. This affects the plot because because when Lyra was first new to all the gyptians Lyra was scared of them. But at Jordan collage without this special item Lyra was just a plain, normal kid. With the gyptians, Lyra was the popular one because of the alethiometer and Lyra was with the Costas. At Jordan, Lyra wasn’t so popular because Lyra didn’t have much power and didn’t have the alethiometer yet. This could affect the plot because when Lyra was at Jordan, scholars would never take her anywhere because Lyra wouldn’t be a help.
