Through having such a powerful setting in an exterior location, it gives the audience the impression that the walls have fallen away, a symbol for the barrier that has temporary fallen for Philippe. The colourful visuals used in this scene also add a sense of positivity to the audience, emphasising their happiness and friendship. The long shot of the men circling around each other in the sky is a symbolic method in demonstrating their infinite friendship, and again assists in reinforcing the idea that their friendship has no bounds. In this frame, although the two friends are individuals and alone in the sky, they are still coming closer to each other, thus being a powerful experience being shared symbolically as they, ‘reach new heights’.
The use of high angle shots allows the audience to see each character’s happiness through the other character’s perspective through the variation in levels of height involved whilst paragliding.
