By
Rochelle Welch

My special thanks to Judi Burnside for all her help and many readings of this book .

Chapter 1

Let me tell you what I discovered in the jungle on an island far out in the ocean . I don't think people have bothered to investigate this island before even though it is fairly large . I had never been on this island and did not know if there was life of any kind there The jungle was thick with trees , vines , bushes and beautiful flowering plants , so I knew I would have a hard time making my way through it . I was looking for new kinds of birds and small animals and

I introduced both of us to the men and asked who they were , then told them we had overheard their conservation and we wanted to save the herd from the poachers . The two men were also doctors , but they were genetic doctors who were able to take DNA from a blood sample and change the way things would come to life . They said their names were Dr. Hunter and Dr. Colton and they had just arrived on the island to check up on the herd . They had no idea that poachers were here to capture the striped babies . For some strange reason they had not heard the gun shots or the screams of the elephants . They had both just gotten to the island . The sound of their boat motor must have covered up the noise the poachers were making . These two Doctors said they had taken a tiny drop of blood from a zebra and a tiny drop of blood from an elephants and mixed the DNA together and that is how the zebaphant got the stripes and fuzzy fur . The Doctors agreed to help us . They were very upset to hear about the poachers , so we started to make our plans to set the rope traps on the paths the poachers were using . We knew we had to be careful not to trap the elephants as they ran ahead of the poachers so we decided to look for the poachers camp site and put our traps close by it. We knew the elephants would not go near the camp site .The herd would be very frightened of people now that the poachers had chased them

The article refers to Mark and Dalia Owens and their escapades as researchers studying the behaviors of humanly naïve wildlife to their corrupt actions against poachers. Although, Goldberg discusses the accomplishes that were made by the Owenses for the nearby oppressed villages and how the Owenses aided the villages, he also discusses how unethical Mark’s antics in particular became with the interactions between scouts and poachers. “The Hunted,” can be connected to conflict theory due to the overwhelming amount of actual conflict that occurred between the stratified groups of poachers, scouts, and activists. People as hopeful as the Owenses that poaching, specifically an illegal killing of elephants in a Park in South Africa, can partake…

Finally it came to the day in which the three Elephants were to die. Due to the fact that the elephant’s were smart enough not to eat poisoned food, and also strong enough to not be effected by poison syringes, the zookeepers decided to starve the animals to death. They could often be seen performing their ‘Bonzai’ trick, which normally would have earned them food and water. Alas, even though the keepers did all they could to try and keep the animals…

He decides to observe the elephant to see if the state of "must" has truly passed instead of shooting it. The crowd would be angry and hate the British officer more if he did not shoot. The officer is faced with the decision of either shooting the elephant and pleasing the Burmese while appearing strong and dominating as a British officer or doing the right thing by not shooting the defenceless elephant.
