There are several theoretical benefits claimed for the tape. One of those is correcting the alignment of weak muscles as well as facilitating joint motion as a result of the tape's recoiling qualities. Additionally, the tape is claimed to lift the skin, increasing the space below it, and increasing blood flow and circulation of lymphatic fluids. This …show more content…
Also a Meta analysis in 2015 study found taping provided significantly more pain relief than no treatment at all, but was not better than other treatment approaches (1). On the other hand, a review article studied the the kinesio taping method for myofascial pain control and found effective and suggested that KT method can be used as a regular treatment or added to the previous treatment for myofascial pain. According to this article the KT application can elevate the subcutaneous space and then increase the blood circulation and lymph fluid drainage to reduce the chemical factors around the MTrP region. The basic principle of prescription of KT for myofascial pain focuses on the patterns of facilitation and inhibition. When the tape applies on the muscle from its origin to the insertion site, it can provide the effect of facilitation to the muscle contraction. On the other hand, when taping from insertion to origin, inhibition and relaxation of muscle spasm will be the effect, which is most useful for myofascial pain and muscle spasm …show more content…
I believe, even if I cannot make statistically difference, I am sure I can make clinically difference. Last, as stated by Feine and Lund (4), those groups who received more treatment modalities showed better results than those who received fewer.
