Her style sort of reminds me of Nico, from The Velvet Underground. Francoise has a better voice, in my opinion. And you’re right -- it’s very evocative. I think that’s what counts most when it comes to music. Almost anybody can be trained to play an instrument proficiently, but if you’re not creative, and your music doesn’t evoke, what good is it? I write songs for fun. I guess my music would be considered indie/alternative. That’s probably because I grew up listening to that type of music the most. The same goes for me -- I would like to visit England, above other countries. I’m fond of the English manner and style -- the whole air of understated elegance. Nowadays, in America, it’s just the opposite -- everything is loud, in your face, and overstated. I haven’t been reading much lately, but I like authors like Hawthorne, Melville, Thoreau, Poe, and Hemmingway. Among the Brits, there’s Robert Louis Stevenson, and Arthur Conan Doyle. All I know of Jane’s is Sense and Sensibility, but don’t remember it well! I’m not familiar with the other authors you mention. Although I was an English major, I’m really not that well-read. In college, it was mostly Shakespeare, over and over. I should be able to play Hamlet by now. I would like to read Wuthering Heights, and Last of the Mohicans, which I never read. Most importantly, I’ve got to read the Bible more often. I read the King James Version. In many cases, the newer versions say things which are completely different.
