The Kite Runner Sacrifice Analysis
Everyone knows that relationships are a give and take and there is always going to be a certain amount of compromise when it comes to love someone — but are the costs sometimes too great? Love does not always brings happiness it can be painful, sad and upset. Strong love involves sacrificing your own happiness and you may even pay the price of life because of it. In The Kite Runner, the thematic relationship between self sacrifice and love is best shown through the character of Amir and Hassan.
Love hurts you when you sacrifice your innocence but another person ignore your devotion. When Amir was born, the first word he could speak is “Baba”, however, the first word that Hassan said was “Amir”. Hassan wants to tries his best to protect Amir …show more content…
“ They told Hassan they would be moving into supposedly keep it safe until I return. Hassan protested again.” (Pg 231) When Hassan and his life took care of Amir’s house, the Taliban came and they were looking for a big house so they wanted to occupy the house. Khan told Amir, “The Talibans said he was a liar and a thief like all Hazaras and ordered him to get his family out of the house by sundown. Hassan protested.” (Pg 230) It should be the greatest and final sacrifice that Hassan could do to help Amir. At that moment, Hassan lost his life and his wife also died. Even worse, their little son was sent to the orphanage. Actually, Hassan could move out because it was not his responsibility. Hassan should know that the Talibans were evil and they were cruel to everyone. In addition, Amir and Baba has moved to America for a long time and they would not come back. It is unnecessary for him to pay his life as price to protect their house. Hassan is always worried about Amir’s attitude towards him, he thought Amir didn’t like him as a friend, so he always wanted to do something to let him accept his friendship. Being a victim of love, it is Hassan’s own choice. Hassan did everything that he could do to help Amir, and finally he died because of his devotion.
