Last Town On Earth and Farewell To Arms.
The books; Farewell To Arms and The Last Town On Earth, are the books that are being compared and contrasted. But Farewell To Arms is mainly taking place in Italy and Switzerland where as The Last Town On Earth is mainly taking place in Commonwealth though the whole conflict of the story is based on how none of the characters can leave Commonwealth or come in, even though the town needs supplies from other places, kind of ironic. The Last Town On Earth follows the main character Phillip throughout most of the story much like the way Farewell To Arms follows it's main character Henry throughout the course of that story. But Farewell To Arms is not divided into sections. The Last Town On Earth is focused on the struggles Phillip and Commonwealth's other residents have to go through because the town is under a quarantine due to the flu. Where Farewell To Arm's main focus of attention is the love of Henry and his nurse.
Henry is an ambulance driver and Phillip is a guardsmen so even though they're similar in the sense that they're both male protagonist, they have very different lives and are in different lines of work in the stories. Though the two characters have a love interest, Henrys plays a much bigger role in Farewell To Arms than the role Phillips plays in The Last Town On Earth. What I mean by that is that, that aspect of the story is followed more in Farewell To Arms and has more to do with the plot of the story. Where in The Last Town On Earth it's present throughout the book but affects the plot significantly
