While becoming a music icon for the past, present, and future generations, Bob Marley was also heavily influenced by music icons in which most notably were Elvis Presley and Solomon Burke during his music career (“Bob Marley”, 2016). Robert Nesta Marley, otherwise known as Bob Marley, was born on February 6th in 1945 in St. Ann, Jamaica (Bob Marley - The Official Site). Originally living in Kingston, well known as the poorest neighborhood in Jamaica, he was moved around with different family members due to the death of his father when Marley was ten years old. While living in the poverty stricken area of Jamaica has greatly influenced the musical style and political stance that Bob Marley would have later in life. Bob Marley learned to play the guitar and started taking singing lessons in the 1950s.
