In the movie The Little Mermaid, the main character is Ariel. Ariel was raised by her father Triton, the king of the sea, without a mother figure. Triton was cantankerous and extremely controlling, especially when he found out about Ariel’s plans. These plans originated when she saved a prince and immediately fell in love. Prince Eric’s ship caught fire and eventually blew up, throwing him overboard. This was the moment Ariel decided she would do whatever it took to find Prince Eric, and have the chance at love, even if doing this meant giving everything up.
