The element that O’Brien applies perhaps the most affectively is that of narration. His style is unique in that he often relates to the reader stories that were told to him. In this sense it is often a third person narrator telling the story of a first person narrator. From this style of narration we the readers get the opinions of two people often coming through. Tim O’Brien displays this when he tells us the story of Rat Kiley. He did not actually witness when Kiley shot himself in the foot, but rather heard about it from others. This causes the reader to call into question the reliability of the story. But moreover, through this story we are shown the toll that war takes on Rat Kiley. The misery of Vietnam causes Kiley to shoot himself in the foot to attempt to escape to a hospital. Yes, it is possible because of the multiple transfers of the story that it is not 100% accurate, but either way the reader can see O’Brien’s message in telling us this event; war can cause people to go insane and do things that are out of the ordinary in order to escape.…

In the first chapter of The Greatest Show On Earth, Dawkins discusses the acceptance of evolution as fact. He says that even with the insurmountable evidence to prove that it is a fact, evolution is still considered to some degree to be just a theory. In a survey of Americans, 40% of people oppose the idea of evolution. They instead believe that humans were created independently from all other living organisms. The percentage is only slightly lower in Britain. He argues that many of those who do not believe evolution to be a fact are uninformed. He states that his purpose for writing this book is to educate these people so that they may realize the truth and change their minds.…

For some time play has been considered a vital activity for children in enabling them to develop and practice real social skills in a safe setting. Whilst interactions with adults can be very important it is often, due to the nature of the relationship, when children interact with peers and siblings that the potential for development through play becomes apparent. Play can be based either on complimentary or reciprocal processes. A complimentary process being when one individual has more social power and reciprocal being when two individuals have similar power and education. In order to see why play is important to child development, it is important to look at how various aspects of play with peers relate to the major theories of child development. Therefore whilst looking at the developments that can take place, this essay will also consider how this development comes about through the theories of development. Which specific aspects of development are evident in sibling and peer relationships will be analysed in light of the research that has been undertaken in this area, along with a look at the limitations of this research and a consideration of what other things influence a child’s learning. The conclusion will finally consider why play with peers and siblings is important.…

Many people have ways of influencing others. Most people use words to affect other people. An amount of individuals would utilize their gift of persuasion to convince others of their causes or maybe arguments, while some use authority to force people to do as they are told. These several differences can apply to fathers as well. Not all fathers are similar when it comes to educating their children. Many are gentle, while some are more dominant.
