The main cause of World War 1 World War 1 is one of the main events in history starting in 1914 and coming to a close at 1918, but the funny thing is knows one really sure how World War 1 started. Many historian still argue today about how it started and why it started but they all agree on multiply causes. Many people believe it was the alliance system that was main course of world war. Many people do believe there was three main reason World War 1 started these reason being alliance, imperialism and empires. But what historians can all agree on is that the assassinations of Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s had a role to play in the World War 1.
Alliances often shifted in wars as many countries wanted to be on the side that seemed stronger and better. There were 3 main alliances in World War 1 that were formed, they were The Triple Alliances containing Germany that had formed an alliance with Hungary/Austria and Italy. They promised if anything happened to each other they would help each other out as Germany was worried about France attacking them. The main reason, though alliances started was the assassinations of Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s, the black hand who was a gang of Serbia rebel who wanted to bring down Austria Hungary. The leader of the Black Hand Gavrilo Princip was hired to kill Archduke Franz Ferdinand by a Serbia man. This may not seem like much but the alliance system came to play over on threat towards the Archduke life. Austria then rebelled by calling upon their allies and quickly set forth to take revenge on the death of the archduke and his pregnant wife
