Military warlords frequently crashed in attempting to increase their territory and all their power. Toyotomi Hideyoshi was phenomenal man and leader in Japanese history. Hideyoshi was born in a village called Nakamura in Owari province. His family was born as peasants and little is known of Toyotomi’s early life and career. As a child, his name was known as Hiyoshimaru or also known as “bounty of the sun”. Later in his life, Toyotomi left his family behind and became the page to the retainer of the daimyo of Tomomi. After his short span of becoming a page, he returned home to become part of the foot soldiers. The leader of the soldier, Oda Nobunaga, believed Toyotomi was a cheerful and intelligent man which promoted him into becoming a samurai. Around 1570, Toyotomi was fighting very important battles and by 1573, he overthrew two very wealthy daimyos and quickly became a lord of Nagahama. By late the 1570’s, Toyotomi began to undertake on the abolishment of Western Japan. In mid the 1580’s, he had become the kampaku, meaning he was the chief minister to the Emperor. Soon in the 1590’s, he became the head of an alliance of daimyo.
