The Milgram Experiment Analysis
In the article, “The Milgram Experiment,” Saul McLeod presented the findings of Stanley Milgram’s experiment on obedience to authority. The study aimed to determine the extent of a person obeying orders even it involves the safety or life of another individual. It was concluded that majority of people are likely to follow orders from an authority figure when they find him moral or his decisions are legal. This was supported in the experiment where 65% of the participants proceeded to the highest level of shock.
I agree with the article’s main point. Obedience is highly regarded and rewarded in our society. People who do not conform are considered dissidents or rebels. However, obedience has its limits because one has to critically think and
