First, the Councils of the Church. All of the councils made very important decisions that affected the Church at the time and shaped it into what it is today. All of the councils met to discuss the problems and what was happening at the time and how they could solve it. This division separated the Church into two: the Roman Catholic Church which is one church that followed under the Pope, and the Eastern Catholic Churches, which is made up of 21 churches, following under a different rule. This division was very important, as the churches are still divided today, and have shaped our religion. If the churches did not separate, our religion could be very different from what it is today.
Third, the Renaissance was a very significant period of reformation in the Church. This was the start of the “modern ages” and it was a time of rediscovery in both the Greek and Roman culture, and it was a revival of the European culture. This event changed the church by creating many new artworks inspired by religion, and many people were beginning to see that everyone is made in God's image and likeness; humanism. This was a very important period in the Church because it was a time of rebirth, and it made many people realize everyone was created in God's image, and that everybody is loved by him, no matter
