Susan Brownmiller's essay voices her feminist view towards pornographic material. Her claim is that without restriction, the first amendment has allowed women to be publicly perceived as objects.…
613Kim Kardashian West removed all doubt on whether she is pregnant or not. She posted a side view selfie of herself, posing nude. Radar Online, August 11, 2015 reported that Kim posted her nude selfie on her Instagram page. And for anyone wondering if the picture was faked, she claims it is not Photoshopped or taken with filters. It was just good lighting. It seems that Kim can’t win and she doesn’t feel sexy with this baby, even with the sexy clothes she wears. She has gone from people saying you’re too thin to you’re too big with this pregnancy. Kim explained why her pictures look so different. In the pictures where she seems to have a smaller waistline, she said they were taken usually in the morning before she ate. Then, in the pictures where she looked large, she said they were taken after she had eaten. She dispelled the rumors that she had a surrogate carrying her baby as well. She said, “I think you all know me well enough to know I would document the process if I got a surrogate. Everyone’s body is different, every pregnancy is very different! I’ve learned to love my body at every stage! I’m going to get even bigger & that’s beautiful too! I’m blessed to even be pregnant & even luckier to not have preeclampsia as far as I know, so I don’t have the swelling issue this time. They…
After analyzing “The Media Assault on Male Body Image”, I strongly agree with its assertion and believe it should be published in The Shorthorn. This article is written by Seed Magazine, so its credibility is questionable. However because the article has a persuasive rhetorical appeal, is relatable to UTA students, and is well-written. I believe it’ll be a popular piece in The Shorthorn.…
“Saudis in Bikinis” by Nicholas D. Kristof is a unique consider how Saudi women feel about being covered up. One Saudi woman in Kristof’s article stated that “I cover up my body and my face, and I’m happy that I’m a religious girl obeying God’s rules…I can swim and do sports and go to restaurants and wear what I want, but not in front of men”. Pg. 176 That must be a liberating feeling to be able to wear whatever you want and not worry about what a man is thinking about your outfit or another woman. Women let’s keep it real. Most of the things that we do to make ourselves beautiful for men okay maybe to look better than the next women. I used to stress myself out about wearing the right outfit, putting on makeup and making…
“Besides making judgments about space, a viewer projects a stream of hypotheses about such factors as time, causality, character personality and motive, the efficacy of action, exposition, enigmas, plausibility, ethics, metaphors, rhythm, point of view, and much more. In general, a viewer comes to understand scenes by making detailed models of events. What might be termed the “classical” camera stands in for those procedures that have been successful in the past. When a viewer’s confidence in his or her predictions is high (i.e. the viewer’s constructed, mental models are well developed and reasonably supported by evidence), the film achieves a high degree of “reality...” (Branigan, 2013)…
Everybody knows millions of years ago before the manifestation of the global society, man and woman ran around buck naked and fancy-free. However, Nowadays running around naked is somewhat frowned upon society.…
Is honesty the best policy even if the truth disturbs many people? Kurt Vonnegut bluntly relays his opinion on the war between science and religion and other controversial topics concerning life though his novel, Cat’s Cradle. Consequently, it was banned by the Ohio School Board in 1972, but “without stating an official reason”(Indianapolis Monthly). The debunking of the validity of religious and scientific beliefs, along with the harsh truth embedded within his work has earned Vonnegut a spot on the controversial “Banned Books” list. He addresses the ongoing war between science and religion by blatantly stating that both are faulty. Throughout Cat’s Cradle, the author claims that religion is based on lies that people wish to believe. On the other hand, he attacks science by asserting that the more advanced technology becomes, the faster and…
Executive Summary Journalists, child advocacy organizations, parents, and psychologists have argued that the sexualization of girls is a broad and increasing problem and is harmful to girls. The APA Task Force on the Sexualization of Girls was formed in response to these expressions of public concern. APA has long been involved in issues related to the impact of media content on children. In 1994,APA adopted a policy resolution on Violence in Mass Media, which updated and expanded an earlier resolution on televised violence. In 2004, the APA Task Force on Advertising and Children produced a report examining broad issues related to advertising to children.…
The research conducted clearly shows that women are being sexually objectified by the media in many ways. Societies views on sexual objectification has changed over the years and has become more of an issue in today’s society. Sexual objectification and self-objectification have proven to be a cause for mental illness in women and girls because of the unrealistic standards that advertising show. After analysing all of the research shown, my opinion is that women have been sexually objectified by the media and the impacts on women can be harmful; this problem needs to be corrected by the advertisers to ensure women and young girls can feel comfortable and confident in their own bodies. Despite the conducting extensive research, more primary…
Nudity in artwork has been occurring since a very early time. Ancient and more recent art has all contained some elements of sex and nudity. Are all men this twisted to portray the human form in its bare state? Or is there a point behind the revealing of the human figure? During the 6th Century, the ancient Greeks created several pieces of sculpture that lacked clothing, but not meaning. The purpose of the Greek nude art was to praise and almost glorify the perfection of the human form. Grecian art was called Classical art because of the main fact that they were obsessed with not nudity, but with the idealism that is present in everything. During that time, Polyclitus wrote the Canon, which defined to artists the measurements and proportions of the human figure. By giving the artists these measurements, the Greeks hoped to achieve idealism and perfection in all of their present and future…
White (2015) noted some minor concerns with health and safety issues, issues with training, and the financial aspect of the use of the body-worn cameras. White (2015) pointed out that there is a need for more research on potential risk factors for officers wearing the body cameras. Potential issues with wearing body cameras that need to be examined are possible neck and head injuries from the weight of the device. The United Kingdom Home Office guide, as cited in White (2015), concluded that although some of the health issues are minimal it is important to take into account the effects it might have on police officers. The amount of time it will take to train an officer on how to properly record, review and download footage is also a concern for some.…
Considering, we all know the golden rule, “treat others the way you want to be treated.” The key is respect. Respect yourself and others. Women/girls are supposed to respect their body and so do men/boys. Nude is not always beauty. Respect yourself and others will respect you.…
“You can observe a lot by watching,” –Yogi Berra. Why should police officers wear body cameras? Body cameras are a safe means of making sure police officers are doing their public duty of protecting and serving. Body cameras can help be sure that police officers aren’t abusing their power to frighten others and become dirty cops. Incidents like that where officers weren’t equipped with body cameras are the reasons for Ferguson and Baltimore, where the public and the legal system had no real evidence of what occurred. Body cameras for police officers are a necessity, and are very useful equipment, but should not be abused.…
Second of all, the school is trying to teach us! No one wants to see a person’s ‘near-nudity’ wardrobe, and the school is regulating that so that we won’t have to. The…
