He does this several times in the whole book. He states that the president is not important then states the president holds all the power. His title is deceiving by only think he will talk about the next ten years. He spends most of his time talking about the past. It’s a very strong written piece however it does have weak point in the argument. He refers to the past in every chapter for every point he would to make. I understand he giving us back ground for him hypothesis of the future. He did this to influence his audience to accept his way of thinking. I believe to give us a glance into the future and help us to curve the way we act and think. He told us the facts from both sides while not truly being from either. The piece is very convincing until a point. He convey his hypothesis with great dictions. You can tell he research these topics. He took great pride in learning about the difference culture. In my opinion his review of Japan in 1991was good, however his prediction of a war with the US and Japan in 20 years was not correct. I do agree on several factors in The Next Decade. I don’t believe that if U.S. stay out of the other country fights than American will be better place and able to relax without fear. He takes a lot of leaps of suggestions for his outcome. I can tell he had studied the economy, history and stock market to help make the prediction. The Next Decade refers to North America, Europe and Africa in many different time frames of war and peace. His conversations about many different issues that spans terrorism, history, relationship with multiple states, military leadership, government jobs and economy. The reason he gives both sides to help the reader to gain a brief knowledge of the events that have taken place and to give the reader more information to know his predication is correct from his view. I would not call this book The Next Decade I would call this the historical lesson of the world. I think this book was too full of history not to say that I want to minimize or trivialize the past of the world. I learn many things from reading the book. I learn that many of the world tragic will or could lead to one dismay. That as a human
