This is the story of a young man who was searching for a unique type of manager, who could successfully lead an organization in such a way that both the people that work for it and the profit were important at the moment of making decisions. He spoke with many managers in different industries and cities trying to figure out the type of management they were using to run their organizations. The Minute Manager believed in helping others to feel good about themselves, so they could be more productive. He also mentioned that he equally cared about people and results, because they were both essential to attain positive long-lasting outcomes for an organization. This system is a way to make a complicated job more manageable. Setting goals is the most important step in managing because employees need to know what they need to be focusing on, so everyone knows what good performance looks like. Catching people doing something right and praising them, helps build confidence. Re-directing people when they are doing something wrong is a supportive way to point out mistakes that help them to want to get back on track.
