The Oppression Of Women In The Lottery By Shirley Jackson
The non-fiction short story titled "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson is a short story about a small village that keeps their traditional drawing and stoning the person that has been drawn.
Jackson is trying to convey the idea of men's superiority and how women were overlooked during the setting of the short story. During the last part of the short story, we saw how Mrs. Hutchinson was overlooked while she was trying to protest about how the draw was unfair. We also saw how women were overlooked when Mrs. Dunbar stood up to represent her family because her husband can't make it. However, Mr. Summer objected because he only wants man to be apart of the lottery officials, and tries to ignore her just because she is a female.
