The Paietal Lobe
Person A: The frontal Lobe is the biggest lobe of the brain, it controls conscious thought, your personality, and voluntary movement. When someone has irreversible damage to the frontal lobe, they can loose their personality, attention span, and might not even be able to control their emotions. Another side effect is loosing your judgment. Some people may start using drugs or drinking alcohol when they never would have thought about it in the past.

Person B: The parietal lobe is located in the back of the head under the skull bone, this lobe controls visual and sensory input. If someone had irreversible damage to this lobe they can trouble with body awareness, recognizing people and even reading. In more severe cases someone might not be

The frontal lobe is the part of the brain that contains you learning, behavior, personality and voluntary movement. According to Jack Van Horn, the passage of the metal stake caused major damage to the white matter connections throughout Gage's brain, which likely was a major contributor to the behavioral changes he experienced. White matter is the fatty substance covering the nerve fibers that connect the billions of neurons, which is the basic wiring of the brain. However, it is hard to diagnose frontal lobe damage because if the diagnosed is mean, enthusiastic, or introverted already, there is no way of measuring how said person was before the…

There are three major brain divisions. They are the cerebrum, the brainstem, and the cerebellum. The cerebrum contains 40% of the weight of the brain and is founded in the superior part of the brain. This portion of the brain has many functions and lobes which perform certain functions. The frontal lobe is involved with “activating and controlling both fine and complex motor activities.” This involves speech. It is also involved with the executive functions, such as reasoning and rationalizing, among others. The occipital lobe is concerned with vision and processing the information received from the eyes. According to the reading, the “key functions of the parietal lobes include perceiving and integrating sensory and perceptual information,…

Referring back to Phineas Gage, scientist were able to determine (based on where he was injured and what effect that had on his body) that the Frontal Lobe had something to do with personality traits. In addition, because Gage survived this event, the Frontal Lobe was not entirely vital for the body to function. Incidents such as these have been able to lead scientists to determine what portion of the brain is associated with specific actions, emotions, functions, etc. They study areas of the brains that are effected by various means and further relate that to how that person was…

Parkin (1996) referred to a patient in his work that the patient suffered a brain damage which corresponded to the right virtual cortex. This rendered him unable to see the things which were present before the lower left quadrant of each of his eyes. Parkin (1996) observed that the patient couldn’t consciously see the things but could locate them i.e. he could process them unconsciously. Datta (2006) named it as ‘unconscious processing’. Farah, O’Reilly & Vecera (1993) observed that this unconscious processing takes place in the extrastriate cortex which involves dorsal lateral geniculate nucleus and superior colliculus.…

Most behavioral problems after brain injury come from damage done to the frontal lobe, which is the area of the brain responsible for organization, planning, creating, evaluating, reasoning, communicating and problem solving skills. Behavior of the human brain is very complex and is, more times than not, difficult to tell which behavior is affected by…
