Ross’s top duty is Non-injury and he believes that this duty, not to harm others physically or psychologically is important. Abdelhamid does not care for the human duties, especially the non injury. By bombing and harming health, security and happiness destroy people's duties. Ross would say that the action to kill Abdelhamid is the harm prevention duty. By preventing harm to others and protecting others from further non injury can be outweigh the other Prima Facie duties. Terror is a tactic to bully and harm innocent bystanders to portray a message of pure hate. This issue of terrorisms affects me greatly because my best friend is of French Descent. She had grown up in Paris and spoke of its beauty and community. Her children are my daughter’s friends and even though they are too young to comprehend the action that has happened it affects their morality. By killing Abdelhamid Abaaoud it sends the children a message that fighting terror with more killing is the answer. As much as I am disgusted with the terror attack I do not believe that more killing is the answer to the problem of terrorism. Although learning his history, his belief in the attacks and how proud he felt my stand on killing him still applies. He should have been punished in a different way, a way where he could suffer and know what he had done to innocent families and people.
The best ethical theory is for this would be Ross’s Prima Facie Duties. If everyone followed the Prima Facie duties and obeyed the top hierarchy duty of non injury it could lead to the other duties. If we can protect the world and followed our duties at first glance. As a world and allies we should not inflict injury to our fellow man.
