First of all, Animal Farm is about a farm run by animals. Snowball was the lead animal. But another animal, a pig name Napoleon wanted that power. After Napoleon gained power, he started to make money by selling items. One of the items was the hen’s eggs. Napoleon wanted to sell it, but the hens refuse to give them and hid on the rafters of the barn. Napoleon having complete control of the farm, staved them until they gave in. This shows two types of power, Napoleon’s control of the farm and the power for getting money which he made corrupt when he staved the hens.
Finally, in The Pearl one of the character the doctor already had wealth and power.
In the story when Kino’s son was sick they when to the doctor to cure him, but the doctor refused. The doctor already having so much power was corrupted because he didn’t see the poor as people. The doctor chooses to help only those who can afford it, making him corrupted because he sould help everyone; not only those who have money. In Animal Farm at the end the same thing happen with Napoleon. In the end, the pigs and Napoleon acted like humans; their mines were so corrupted by power that they thought they were more equal than the other animals. This is show by Napoleon getting rid of a rule calling all animals comrades. This is corrupted because everyone is equal.
In conclusion, both The Pearl and Animal Farm shows the theme of power corrupting people's minds; by showing characters minds, like Kino and the doctor and Napoleon from getting their minds corrupt by
