In high school, many teenagers change and develop throughout the 4 years. The novel, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, shows examples of change and development through the main character, Charlie. “The Perks of Being a Wallflower is persistently regarded as a coming-of-age story, largely due to the changes that occur in Charlie in the course of his freshman year of high school.” (Dominic) In the beginning of the novel, Charlie enters high school with no friends and feeling like he can’t fit in with anyone. “Charlie reveals himself to be socially awkward with other teens.
