In Dudley Randall’s poem “Ballad of Birmingham”, he tells of the everyday African American persecution and police brutality they faced in the 1960s. The poem gives a little bit of insight into the racial discrimination, unsafe community, and harsh living conditions African Americans had to endure on a day-to-day basis.In the 1960s it was a rough time for people of color and “Ballad of Birmingham” gives us a clear visual of the struggles they went through but more specifically a certain town in Alabama where tragedy hit hard.
