The Poker Room
The Poker Room

The poker room is a very unique and exciting place, but it can also be a frustrating place. Poker is a game for everyone. There are many different types of people in a poker room, anywhere from rich to middle class and in some cases lower than that. There are many sights and sounds all around, from the people to the décor, as well as the materials for the games. Poker consists of lots of different games and there’s usually at least one table for each game type. All of this makes a poker room a really exciting and unique place to be. Inside a poker room there is just about any type of person that can come to ones mind. People of every race, religion, and sex play the game. At some tables there are talkative people. These are the ones who talk a lot and try to distract their opponents from what’s happening during a hand. There’s also people who are really quiet like myself. They sit quietly and study the game and what’s going on around them. These people are constantly trying to find a tell on another player or figure out a persons betting patterns. They look for anything that will give them a slight edge over their opponents. Since a poker room normally has a bar there’s always a few drunk players. I prefer to play against a drunk over a sober person any day. When a person drinks it’s hard for them to concentrate so they are essentially “dead money”. One down side is they can be loud and obnoxious and slow down the game. When there’s a lot of people and a lot of money around there’s always going to be a lot of action going on around the room and at the table. In a casino everything is nice and “pretty” with bright colors and things to get attention. The poker room is usually like that as well, unless of course it’s a bar or a home game. All these colors and lights are a distraction to people. They are there for one reason, to take peoples minds off the game they are playing so the casino can win more money. Every poker table consists of nice

Because there are many like me who care to stay and enjoy their stay and hopefully win while there, casino owners have enhanced their casinos to ensure that business is consistently received. For example, Casinos have created gambling plans for their customers. One example would be if you play certain games you have the opportunity to get receive a free room or buffet dinners, this allows the customers to feel free to continue and enjoy their time. Speaking of regionalistic qualities, The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County and The Outcasts of Poker Flat are very much alike when it comes to their characters. The dialect used in both stories indicates that the setting must be somewhere in the “Wild West”. For example, in Twain’s story, Simon Wheeler is telling the narrator tall tales about some fellow named Jim Smiley and his tone tells you exactly the type of man he is: somewhat unintelligent compared to the narrator. The sentence structure is different from what the narrator is used to. Twain used the word “ketched” in his story instead of ‘caught’ to indicate how Simon was pronouncing his words, and it gives the reader a clear understanding of how people of this town talked (Twain…

It is known all around the world and even though it has been played for hundreds of years, it is still as relevant a casino game as it has ever been. Blackjack is in many ways the game of our time, having emerged from the streets of Spain and France to become a leading genre in the world of online casino gaming. The game has evolved with each generation is has passed through, but for all the bright lights and innovations its core mechanics have stayed relatively the same. Each time a player sits down to play a hand or two, it is still a one-on-one contest between player and dealer. The race to 21 (or bust) is still what decides the outcome, with its basic nature playing a part in why blackjack is still so loved the world over. Many consider the game of blackjack to be basic in nature, as playing a few hands casually is simple enough. The reality is that strategy plays a key…

    2. The main characters Billy Ray Valentine, Louis Winthorpe and the Duke Brothers all have very distinct language and ways of presenting themselves. Valentine speaks in ways that would suggest he is not well educated and does not carry himself in a way that he wants people to respect and look up to him. He would say things like “I wish my bitches would get here. I ain't got time to be sitting in this cell with you.” Using improper grammar, words like ain’t and ‘cause and cursing quite often. Winthrope is very professional and proper. He uses very suitable and appropriate words which make people believe he is educated and a very high class man. The same goes for the Duke Brothers, they speak with very high intelligence and seem like sophisticated elder men.…
