The Positive Effects Of Yoga
April 22nd 2013 One morning I woke up to a cool breeze tickling my shoulder at 6am. This was the first week of the second month I had been waking up at six in the morning. I started doing this after learning about Aryuvedic practices in a lecture I attended during my Yoga Teacher Training Intensive. It stuck with me because of the way the woman giving the lecture talked about the morning. She described the morning as pure and calm and serene. It's true, the morning is profound. I had been waking up at 6am ever since. I wake in the morning, I feel like nothing. This is where my playtime begins. I sleep on a big, white, fluffily cloud. The thought of abandoning my warm cozy nest for the big cold world makes me want to curl up into fetal position and sleep my life away. I tell myself I can get up in just a minute while I listen to the birds faintly chirp outside my window. I like the way the morning sounds. I pretend that it is summer and get high off my nostalgia. I let my imagination wander in the cob webbed memories of warm weather. My mind drifts off but I know how to catch it in the morning because it hasn't been awake long enough to run far. I love to bask in the nothingness. Removing myself from the bed sheets is next to impossible. My skin sticks to my blankets like velcro. The thought of living exhausts me. I lose focus again. I surrender to my daydream of hot landscapes. I swear I can feel the sweet sun beating down on my back. I wonder what it would be like to be as divine as a pharaoh in Ancient Egypt. I wonder what it would be like sweating for the pyramids every day you wake up as a slave. I wonder what I am waking up as and I wonder if anyone will wonder what it is like to be me. I feel every sun ray that ever shined on every beautiful thing, for just a moment as I'm sitting on my bed cloud this morning. I am so intrigued by this nothingness. I wonder if that's what death is like. The morning gets me. I always find myself deep in self

    Yoga therapy is an ancient holistic system of recovery of the body.
