the prince of tydes incomplete analysis
THE PRINCE OF TIDES ANALYSIS
To be able to analyze text 1, I will comment on how language, style and format are used in the representation of Saif Ali Khan. Text 1 is an adaptation from a magazine article which was published in Stardust Icon in the year 2010. It probably follows the theme of a cinematographic or celebrity magazine in which the author, Piyush Roy, comments on famous actors and actresses. This article centers its argument in the life of a famous actor of India, inferred by the mentioning of Bollywood, Saif Ali Khan. It also describes his progress by contrasting the past with the present. Also, the structure, design and descriptive techniques help to provide information according to its purpose.
In relation to the structure and design of the text 1, the image and the title allow the reader to be engaged into the reading as, visually, the image and the title are what attracts the reader at first. The image of Saif makes him look handsome and it gives a really good first impression. The words accompany the content of the article as it looks, because of the font size variation, as it represents the ups and downs of his carrier. Also, the subtitle grabs the audience attention as it is in a bigger font than the rest of the article and it is a textual citation from Saif Ali Khan. Also, the subtitle helps to introduce the man that will be described by the article and it also represents the kind of “philosophy” Saif has as the citation made explains Saif’s attitude towards life.

In this piece of visual rhetoric, there is a very strong message conveyed. Depicted in the medium are lips, very disturbing lips. The creator of this piece uses image to connect to the viewer visually, expressing a very serious tone. Domestic violence and open road safety are two of the most exemplified things to impact the meaning of image to the viewer. The reason behind this is most likely because of the fact that they can be identified by the greater community and very negative things. The use of the view point is used quite elegantly is the pectoral image. The marvelous uses of imagery and implementation in this image is utilized in every thing from the color scheme to the use of major issues of society to prove a major point to the viewer. The “Dutchman” metaphorically relates the Flying Dutchman, a ship that sails at sea with no destination, which symbolizes how “white” America ceases to recognize blacks as apart of the human race. Clay’s suit represents invisibility and alienation as it portrays how he attempts to assimilate into the white world, blending in and fitting in to it’s stereotype of who African Americans are. At the same time, Clay expresses his anger toward the same white culture he is attempting to assimilate into that is expressed when Lula judges Clay’s character. The theory behind the Flying Dutchman identifies with Lula, the white woman who seems to travel the subway preying on African-American males. Throughout the course of the play, Clay struggles with trying to blend in with the white people, internally knowing he is still a black man. In addition to the internal struggle Clay goes through, there is an external struggle with Lula, who represents white culture. Clay’s suit portrays that he doesn’t want to draw attention to himself in this white crowd, but merely blend in, even though he is the black man of which isn’t recognized to be of human as a white person.…

“Health & Medicine” Vs “Topic is Cancer” I have selected two articles for my compare and contrast analysis; one is “Health & Medicine” which describes the rising medical challenges and controversies; second is “Topic is Cancer” by Christopher Hitchens, which describes the physical and mental situation of a dying cancer patient. I will break down each article to how they differ from each other to how that compare to each other in several ways. The first article “ Health & Medicine” presents a hyperopic picture of the issue at hand. It gives a bird eye view to the issue at large with a lot of under-discussed points whereas the second article presents a myopic picture uncovering the deep feelings emerging in the mind of a cancer patient.…

A pull quote has been used as the cover line saying ‘I want to make people happy…’ this overlaps the image of Oli Sykes and this creates an enigma for the decoder, as they will want to read the article that it is referring to. The big, bold, capitalised font style used on the headline ‘Bring me the Horizon’ overlaps the image. Also, the words ‘me’ and ‘the’ are written in a Japanese style font, anchoring the cover line ‘in Tokyo with…

six-pack flaunting, butt-baring John Abraham now, the Bollywood hero has had quite a makeover. The 50s was the era of method-acting with the likes of Dilip Kumar, while in the 60s, Rajesh Khanna and Dev Anand epitomised romance on screen. After Khanna’s guru kurtas and fluffy hairtop, Amitabh Bachchan brought the angry young man into the picture in the 70s and 80s with Zanjeer, Deewar and Agneepath, also bringing to the fore, bell bottoms and side burns. The 90s was the time of the lover boys Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan dancing in exotic foreign locales. Now, the Bollywood hero is not restricted by genre or style and fits into every mould. He is a looker, chocolatey, experimental and total paisa vasool, read Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan.…
