The Pros And Cons Of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) claims to be international but is really a domestic airport at best. Austin, Texas is a capital city that thrives on its artistic, educational, and technological innovations. Hosting two of the largest music and media festivals in the United States, paired with its bustling, year-round local music scene, Austin has self-proclaimed as the ‘Live Music Capital of the World.’ The capital is indeed here, but considering that the population of the city is nearly 70% [only] Caucasian, the world is yet to be found. A lot of great education institutions and several mover & shaker tech companies operate and have offices in Austin. But the diversity that Austin lacks could transform it into one of the …show more content…
Both cities have one at least one class B airport, while Austin’s only airport is class C which is defined as of ‘only moderate importance.’ Commuting to either Houston or Dallas requires at least over two hours of travel by automobile. ABIA currently flies to several destinations in North America, but only one outside of the continent: London-Heathrow in London, England. The problem with this is, instead of flying straight to one’s destination (with or without a connecting flight), a passenger must buy another plane ticket from Heathrow airport to their destination. Not only is this inconvenient for the flyer, but discourages travel due it ending up being too expensive or strenuous. With travelers constantly coming in for events and opportunities, it is imperative that they are given reasonable, fair, and efficient options for travel. In 2015, an expansion proposal for ABIA was passed that is currently adding eleven new gates to its terminals. Still yet, once constructed, these gates will mainly focus on domestic flights. Public parking fees and event revenue could jump-start the budget for the expansion. The new ABIA would cater to many continents just like New York and Los Angeles. Local works from artists could be promoted and displayed in terminals; Local businesses could expand even more and open shops in the airport. And why not a venue inside giving visitors the option to experience the local music scene while waiting to board their flight? Big technological steps could be taken by using renewable energy sources to power part, or all, of the new terminals, continuing to display Austin as an anomaly by using green, clean

Some advantages of expanding here, is that Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International. has been the busiest airport by passenger traffic and number of landing and take-offs since 1999. Air-Tran also flew nearly 18% of the total passengers at this location in 2009. The Atlanta hub also allows an advantage for a great connection site for other flights, which will help with travel to the many sites in Florida and other southern states. Southwest’s flight traffic was up 13.2% in January and up 13% in February which also shows a growing need for Southwest’s flights and an advantage.…

Now in the hands of the local community, Ontario International Airport is at the cusp of offering direct flights to China, forging a connection with the Pacific Rim and the Southland Asian-American community. The growth of the airport is a primary catalyst for the commercial real estate market in the nearby community. “It is easier for someone from North Orange County or the San Gabriel Valley to get to Ontario Airport than LAX, because the route goes against the traffic,” he says. “I believe this area offers a great quality of life, with great shopping and entertainment and the ability to avoid long commutes, along with low crime rates and newer…
