Teens should not be bystanders to bullying, nor should they be a bully. Being a bystander is just as bad if not worse than bullying. By being a bystander you are standing there watching someone harm another person. Bullying is evil, humiliating, and is life threatening. If you bully, you can seriously hurt someone, whether it’s physically or mentally and in some cases even both. Even if you think you’re just joking, the other person may not think of it as joke, they could think you’re being serious. Also, you don't know that person's background or “story” you don't know what they have been through or what may really hurt them. They have no clue how much they are affecting someone and how potentially life threatening their actions can be. They may think they are being harmless and just trying to make others laugh but really they are practically killing someone. Little do they know their victim is at home probably crying themselves to sleep every night because of the bully. That's thinking minimalistic, for all they know this poor person is at home laying on the floor barely breathing because they have hurt themselves physically so much they can't breathe. Self-harm is very real and very dangerous. So many people are uninformed on self-harm and how it affects people. It's sad to say but hopefully the temporary self-harm is the end of it. For some victims it is not the end of their sadness and worries. Many people are so depressed that the self-harm isn't enough. It doesn't make them feel better anymore. This may come to the point where they completely give up and commit suicide. Suicide is a very complex topic that almost no one understands. Many people just think they are running from their problems and they only hurt their families but it's so much more than that. Hopefully the victims do not get to the point of suicide but that doesn't mean life goes back to normal and they are automatically happy again. Many victims of bullying suffer from post traumatic
