The Pros And Cons Of Executive Order
US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on January 27, 2017. The order bans citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US for at least 90 days. The order also suspended refugee admission program of the US for 120 days. US officials added that the order is only a first step toward a wider ban, which is aimed at protecting the US from terrorist attacks. The executive order is in line with President Trump’s campaign pledge. He promised a total and complete shutdown of Muslim immigration during his presidential campaign.

In detail, Executive Order 13769, titled “an Executive Order protecting America from terrorists’ entrance” bans US entry by citizens of seven countries such as Libya, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen …show more content…
The companies prepare measures to protect their employees as many employees of such companies will be affected by the executive order.

US tech companies rely on skilled foreign employees. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook wrote to his employees that he does not support Trump’s policy and Apple would not exist without immigration. Of note, biological father of Steve Jobs, founder of Apple was an immigrant from Syria. Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook also showed his concern over the ban. He said that the United States is a nation of immigrants and his grandparents were from Germany, Austria and Poland and his wife’s parents were refugees from China and Vietnam.

Former President Barack Obama also made a statement opposing Trump’s executive order. Spokesman of the former president said, “The President fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion.” Obama’s statement is meaningful in that it was his first official statement after leaving the White House and former presidents usually refrain from criticizing current
