Reproductive cloning would have no advantages because it would be a different person in someone else's body.
Reproductive cloning is not very effective with humans, or a lot of animals. Scientist have cloned two endangered animals that did have a successful birth, but they died shortly after the birth (Cloning Fact). There have also been other animals cloned that have shorter chromosomes, age faster, and have many other health problems. Cloning has also lead to early death.
The average age for a sheep to die is 12 years old, and when Dolly passed away she was only 6 years old, and had shorter chromosomes than her clone.
Human cloning may lead to many new discoveries, and sciences. Even though reproductive cloning in its current state may not be more effective than natural reproduction it could have huge benefits. At some point in the future we could have cloning that could take out certain unwanted things. We may be able to destroy unneeded things such as wisdom teeth, diseases that follow the newborn such as Cancer, Alzheimers, etc. Although this would be terrific that is far in the future, and it is extremely hard to clone humans (Begley).
Cloning may serve as a great way to reproduce in the future, but as it sits now there is no need or purpose to cloning. With the knowledge we have of cloning animals would have half the life expectancy, shorter chromosomes, and have a list of health problems. In the far future with more knowledge of the science we do as of now there may be able to get rid of diseases and unneeded counterparts of the human body. Reproductive cloning in its current state would serve no purpose because people would age faster, die young, and have many other health-related issues.
