to continue to smoke, sell and grow marijuana. The government might as well legalize marijuana to make it easier for them to control and monitor its purchase. By legalizing marijuana, it will also add billions of dollars to the economy through tax revenues, dismantle the black market and create thousands of jobs. In addition, the Liberals recognize the importance of preserving the environment.
The Liberals said that they would spend $1.7 billion over three years to support energy-saving programs under the Green Ontario Fund. Not only does the Green Ontario Fund allow citizens to fight climate change, but it also helps them save money by reducing energy costs. The Liberals are setting a good example for Ontarians because at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if we have a strong economy or universal healthcare, if there is no home for us to live in. Furthermore, the Liberals plan to make daycare free for children aged 2-and-a-half until they are eligible for kindergarten. This move is part of a $2.2-billion investment to expand access to licensed childcare for families. According to CBC, studies have found that fewer than 25% of Ontario families can afford full-day licensed care for their children. By making childcare free, it allows parents to work and save their money to support their family. Enrolling in an educational daycare will also prepare children for school so that they have a better idea of what is expected of them and how they should behave around
others. Without government funding, many families simply cannot afford to have their children learn these essential skills. As Ontario’s previous premier, Kathleen Wynne had already made Ontario a better place to live as she has slashed college tuition fees and offered free prescription drugs to anyone 24 and under. Hopefully, in five more years, the Liberals will gain back their official party status.
