An example is present bias, “ present bias,” when we need to take a small, easy step to bring about some future good, we fail to do it, not because we’ve decided its a bad idea, but we procrastinate” (Conly, p. 278). Some people really want to do good things for their health but in many ways people hesitate to do anything because they are not use to change in routines. Routines can be especially hard to break since the person has already gotten use to it. With the soda ban, someone who constantly drinks too much soda would have to go with what they have. Moreover, “we also suffer from a status quo bias, which makes us value what we've already got over the alternatives, just because we’ve already got it-which might, of course, make us react badly to new laws, even when they are really an improvement over what we’ve got” (Conly, p. 278). When introduced to something new, people will act in certain ways, they would most likely not react very well to the news that the government is going to be banning certain sizes of sugary drinks. It's important that the government makes those laws, it's good to change certain things for the better. That's where the soda ban comes in to play, prohibiting larger sizes of drinks would cause people to realize that it's for their good and the benefit of
