However, by the rapid development of the sea ports in such mainland cities with higher competition and more newly builded container terminals upgrading their container loading capacity in this recent years. Hong Kong are now facing much more chanllege for keeping the existing status in the Pearl River Delta. In this article, I will share my point of views for the prospect of Hong Kong’s Sea tranport and also the argument with significant analysis. In the ending, there will be some recommendation for maintancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness as one of the most important sea port in worldwide.

In aspect of geophical point of view, Hong Kong is being with a deep water water, silt-free natural harbour, advanced location in Pearl River Delta Region which incur many sea vessels route through Hong Kong sea port. Moreover, Pearl River Delta have been stationed with a many manufacturers having cargo exported to foreign countries which generate the demand of transportation from Guangdong region to Hong Kong sea port. In addition, the container terminals in Hong Kong have the most advanced terminal facilities to meet the transportation demand. In fact, Hong Kong Kwai Chung Container Terminal No. 1-9 with 24 berths , Tuen Mun river trade Terminal and mid-stream operation made total throughput as 24 million TEUs in 2008.
