Port of Nighbo-zhoushan has unique Geographical Location. It enjoys a perfect geographical position by being located at the "T" shaped route intersection between China's coastline and Yangtze River golden waterway. It also boats a convenient geographical radiation by facing East Asia and the entire Pacific region externally and connecting with the costal ports internally. Besides, it can reach out to Yangtze River and Grand Canal through transportation across the seas, directly covering the whole east China and the economically developed Yangtze River Basin.
2. Port of Nighbo-zhoushan has deep water, rich channels (resource) and near the shore. It also has vast waters to anchorage. Ningbo port has rich channel resource, which makes it as a big port. According to a report, in the year 2010, Ningbo port operates 130 Million TEU containers. It means 35616 TEU a day .The number of the container is on the top of the list.

Owing to the excellent port resources of Zhoushan, the cargo throughput of Zhoushan Port in 2009 was 193 million tonnages, increasing by 35 million tonnages over 2008. The goal of Zhoushan Port in 2010 is to: ensure to fulfill a cargo throughput of 200 million tonnages, striving to breakthrough 210 million tonnages; ensure to fulfill freight capacity retention of 3.45 million tonnages, striving to breakthrough 3.6 million tonnages.
