The question that they wanted to prove was if it was possible for a man to land on the moon and return safely home. This was accomplished multiple times and was successful as well as having some failures along the way. Overall the program is seen as a huge success as they were also able to return 842 pounds of lunar rocks and soil back to earth. This was done so that scientist could
understand the moons composition and geological history.
