The Resurrection of Jesus Christ
OBERVATIONS ON DIFFERENT RELIGIONS
(RVE 3 MWF 1-2 pm)
Balas, Patrick
Ibañez, Carizza Marie
Maddela, Nelvie
Marollano, Johanna Marie 1. Iglesia Ni Cristo (Lokal ng San Fernando) 2. A. Positive * Church Architecture: well-ventilated and well-lit. * The choir’s actions are very organized. * Ladies and gentlemen are separated to avoid unnecessary things during their “pagsamba” * Dress code is strictly implemented * The members are attentive and active * The attendance of the members is monitored by having a “katibayan” which you must have before entering. For those who belong to that “local”, they use a Bundy clock sort of thing. * Gadgets (cell phones and such) are collected in a counter-like area. * There is a book, containing the hymns sung by the choir, distributed to the individuals. Then, there is an LED in front which guides the people on which hymns are being sung. * They set spaces between the seats of each person’s for them to avoid chatting and to concentrate to their activity. * There is an organized manner of leaving the “kapilya” after their “pagsamba”. * They used Filipino as their language in which the people will easily understood. Then the way the minister preaches is powerful in the sense of how he delivered the message. * Taking pictures are prohibited.
B. Negative * They collect offerings person to person. Wherein they will know who gave or gave not, and it is a shame for an individual who didn’t give any. * In one of their songs, and also in the preaching, indicates that their religion, or them, is the chosen people of God which the bible is talking about. It is kind of self conceitedness. The fact that they are using a Filipino version of the Bible wherein the phrase “Iglesia ni Kristo” is considered. 3. Pastor / Minister/ Leader : Bro. As you enter through the door on the first level of this San Francisco-based Baptist-rooted church, you become overwhelmed by the warm hug and kiss of Sister “What’s-her-name?” as she bold and kindly greets you, “Good morning! God bless you!” Walking up the stairs heading into the Worship Center, Brother and Sister “So and so” affectionately embrace you, just as an aunt or uncle would at a family function. In an instant, you are drawn in by the harmonious singing of the choir over the upbeat sounds of musicians playing the drums, keyboard, guitars, organ and tambourines. As you look around, you may not recognize everybody, but you sense a powerful family-like bondage. Although the love of Christ…

The church does not have any hymn-books, rather they have a music superintendent who leads them into the songs. As the leader says one line, the entire church will repeat it in a chorus. Additionally, the reverend would ask God to help the ill, but rather than saying that generally, he focuses on more specific cases.…

Anne’s she sets down her things next to her and sometimes begins a conversation with the other members of the church. She smiles and laughs as she speaks with the other members. Other times she looks through her phone as she waits for Mass to begin. The Mass at St. Anne’s begins with a chime and everyone stands as a whole body. The band plays, quietly at first and then louder. The instrumentals echo throughout the church and engulf me, Alejandra and the other members of the church, and seconds later a male begins to sing and soon after a child joins in. The Mass goers begin to sing along. There isn’t multiple voices singing but instead everyone sings to form one voice. Alejandra as she sings becomes emotional from thinking of her children and her eyes begin to tear up but a tear never falls. She explains that to her the child singing is very beautiful and reminds her of her children, who rarely accompany her to church because both find church boring, and unnecessary and would rather stay…

Rooms with awkward seating positions might mean that two people cannot see each other properly. For example if a nurse is talking to a patient and the patient is leaning back at about 135 degrees, this would mean that the patient is not paying attention to what the nurse is communicating. So the patient (receiver) may not understand the message that is being given to him. To overcome this barrier, people communicating in a health and social care setting would sit in a room around a desk like this. This is so that both of them are comfortable and can see each other properly.…
